MYER HOTELS CONTRIBUTE TO GIRL SCOUTS’ PHONE BOOK RECYCLING

Local Girl Socuts volunteered at the recycling evet

Branson, MO – Myer Hotels was a local participant in a recent recycling event involving Branson area friends and neighbors, the Girl Scouts and the Branson Recycle Center. Thursday April 20th Century Tel hosted a Customer Appreciation and Phone Book Recycling event at the City of Branson RecPlex. Community members were encouraged to bring in old phone books for recycling with local Girl Scouts receiving money for every phone book received.

“Myer Hotels contributed about two pick-up loads of phone books,” noted Gail Myer, VP of Operations for Myer Hotels. “The recycling event was a great opportunity for the hotels to support such a positive community program. It was really a win win situation as the Girl Scouts were able to raise funds for their projects while it eliminated a storage and disposal problem for the hotels.”

Phone books that Myer Hotels and other Branson area businesses and individuals delivered to the Girl Scouts will be recycled and made into various products by Ralston-Purina in Springfield.

“A recycling program like this, enabling companies like Ralston-Purina to take phone books and produce environmentally friendly products, is a way for us to help protect the beautiful Ozarks,” continued Mr. Myer. “At all five hotels we have many programs that reduce waste or decrease chemical and energy consumption. This opportunity fit right in with our environmental objectives.”
